DIY or Call Us?

Here’s what you can safely check yourself: from ground level or a sturdy ladder, look for the crack patterns and staining described above. If you have safe roof access, a gentle probe with a screwdriver will tell you if a “crown” is actually a thin wash cap (it’ll chip or sound hollow).

Here’s where DIY goes wrong. Crown work involves working at height on a masonry surface that may be structurally compromised.
