Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed
Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
Meet the Denton Team Behind Emberly Chimney Cleaners Denton
We’ve got four people on the ground here in Denton, plus Corrine running the office. Everyone on this page has been inside your neighbors’ chimneys, crawled through attics in summer heat, and sat with homeowners to explain what we found and what it’ll take to fix it. What ties us together isn’t a handbook. It’s that every one of us has had to show a customer the photo evidence of a cracked flue liner and explain why it matters before we touch a tool.
Our People
Marcus T. - Lead Technician, NFPA 211 Level 2 Inspector
Marcus has been climbing roofs in Denton County for fourteen years, the last six with us. He holds a CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep credential and handles every Level 2 camera inspection we perform, including the ones in the older ranch homes around Southridge and the two-story builds in Robson Ranch where the flue runs straight through conditioned space. He’s the one who found a fully detached flue liner in a 1987 home near Quail Creek last March, spotted because he refuses to skip the smoke chamber scan even when it’s a tight squeeze. Off the clock, Marcus restores vintage motorcycles and brings the same patience to both jobs: he won’t reassemble something until he can explain how every part works.
Dana L. - Senior Installer, Liner & Rebuild Specialist
Dana joined us after eight years doing commercial HVAC ductwork, which turned out to be perfect preparation for stainless steel flue liner pulls and HeatShield cerfractory resurfacing. She handles our DuraFlex liner installations and the full rebuilds where the existing clay flue tiles have spalled beyond repair, like the job she finished last November on a historic home near the Denton Square where the original chimney had settled two inches off plumb. Dana’s certified in both HeatShield and DuraFlex application methods. She keeps a notebook of every chimney she’s worked on, organized by street name, and can usually tell you the year and manufacturer of a liner she’s installed without checking the file. Her garage is full of rescued tools she’s rebuilt herself.
Jesse R. - Service Coordinator & Dispatch
Jesse answers the phones that ring at 10 PM on a Saturday when someone smells smoke backing up into their living room. He’s been with Emberly Chimney Cleaners Denton for four years, and before that he dispatched for a plumbing outfit in Lewisville so he knows the difference between a true emergency and something that can wait for daylight. Jesse schedules every appointment, assigns the technician, and sends the text when your tech is en route, per Haven Standard Clause 3. He’s also the one who prepares your written price and scope before anyone knocks on your door, which means he’s memorized most of our flat-rate pricing for standard sweeps, cap installations, and common liner repairs. Jesse grew up in Sanger, still lives there, and knows which Denton neighborhoods have the post-oak pollen that clogs chimney caps every April.
Tyler K. - Apprentice Technician, Second-Year
Tyler started with us fresh out of the welding program at North Central Texas College and spent his first six months shadowing Marcus on every call before he touched a brush solo. He’s now handling standard chimney sweeps and basic cap replacements on his own, with Marcus reviewing his photo documentation before it goes to the customer, per Clause 4. Tyler’s specialty is already becoming metal fabrication, he’s the one who custom-cut a copper chimney cricket for a Victorian near Sherman Drive where off-the-shelf flashing would have pooled water. He’s working toward his CSIA certification and asks more questions than anyone on the crew, which is exactly what we want. Tyler lives in an apartment near UNT and plays bass in a band that practices loud enough that his neighbors probably wish he’d soundproof their shared wall.
One Standard, Every Job

The Haven Standard wasn’t written in a conference room. It came from what Corrine Halstead learned running calls herself starting in 2009, then formalized into the five clauses after too many customers told her horror stories about other companies: no written price until the tech was already in the living room, no photos to prove what was supposedly broken, no callback when something failed three months later.
Every technician on this page operates under those same clauses. Clause 1 means you get your written price, scope, and warranty before work starts, not after we’ve set up drop cloths. Clause 3 means a named, background-checked technician with a license number you can verify, plus a text when they’re on the way. Clause 4 means the photo record Marcus or Dana or Tyler takes inside your flue is archived and available to you, not buried in a proprietary system. And the 365-Day Done Right Promise means if we miss something, we come back and make it right without a debate about whose fault it was.
We’ve completed more than 38,000 chimney inspections and cleanings across the network since 2009, every one with that same documentation. The materials we use, DuraFlex liners, HeatShield resurfacing, Gelco and Famco caps, Olympia Chimney components, and Copperfield supplies, come through Haven’s buying network so we don’t have to mark up retail prices to cover overhead. But the standard itself is enforced person by person, on every job, by the four people you just read about.
Call us at (940) 373-6912. Jesse or Corrine will answer, or if it’s the middle of the night, Jesse will call you back within the hour. We’ll book a time, send your written price before we arrive, and show you exactly what we found with a camera and a photo record you can keep.
